A TIME TO REMEMBER, HONOR, AND THANK

This post is not meant to be a political statement, but only a realization that good and evil exist and battle in the world today, just like what I write about in my Shadowmen Series, good wars against murderous evil and the heroes and heroines are they only thing that keep the evil in check and good alive.

Today is a day to honor Warriors who have sacrificed everything to battle evil. Book 3 of the Shadowmen Series, Kiss of Darkness, is dedicated to all of those who serve in the armed forces. The hero of the book, though he has his reasons for being ex-military, in the very depth of his heart he is a warrior who will pay any price to battle evil and does.

The freedoms we have in America today were paid for by the blood, sweat, and sacrifice of those soldiers who were willing to give everything for us. The reality of this was brought to the very center of my heart by the tragedy of September 11, 2001 and the courageousness every man and woman who now serve and have served in the armed forces since America as a nation came into being. As I watched the towers burn and collapse that day with all the horror, hurt, and anger of it filling my heart, I knew that no matter what it took, I didn't want to turn on the news twenty years from now and see the building where one of my children worked going up in flames because evil was allowed to reign unchecked.
No world is perfect, no human being is perfect, and no nation is perfect thus no battle fought will ever be perfect. But good and evil do exist within the hearts and minds of men and when evil takes root and murderously rises to power then good must meet the challenge or all would be lost. It is that courageous good that is embodied in those who serve in the armed forces. It is the selfless response to fight against evil that drives our warriors every day and enables good to thrive and win.
Have you ever asked yourself what the world would have been like had good not battled Hitler's evil and he'd become powerful enough to control the world and spread his sickness throughout?
You say that would have been impossible and I would agree based simply upon the fact that good rules the hearts of warriors throughout the world and they stood against it.
But then, so much of me would have belived Hitler's irrational evil and murder of millions couldn't have controlled an army. That it couldn't have ruled a nation. That it couldn't have overtaken other nations and it did.
So who is to say how far the radical evil in today's world would have gone if left unchecked. Some might say that this battle, this war wasn't necessary. And I ask you was there or is there today any point that our heroes weren't and aren't battling against a murderous evil? It may not have Hitler face upon it but the intent to kill, destroy, and annihilate at any cost by any means is the same. I ask you at what point would you have deemed a stand against the evil necessary? How many more people should have been murdered to make it acceptable?
If good doesn't battle evil then the loss of life is tenfold, and the the longer evil goes unchecked the greater the price to stop it will be. The war with Hitler proved these things true. How many were murdered by Hitler in comparison to those died stopping him?
How many more Americans would have died if our military hadn't stepped into battle when they did?
I know that I thank God, Country, and all of our Military Warriors every day for the good in my life and nation even though it is imperfect. I honor you heroes in my heart and can never express a thank you worthy enough for the price you pay.
But I'll say it anyway.

THANK YOU!

Wild Irish by Jennifer Saints (aka Jennifer St. Giles) May 20, 2009
“Still a virgin on the run after all these years, Lexi?” he drawled. His voice, as steamy and seductive as Southern summer day, challenged her on an elemental level, a sensual one. "Almost," Alexi said, letting the last illicit picture she had of Roger fall from her grasp to the ground. She'd only ever been with Roger and he didn't count. Not anymore. She sucked in air, latching onto Jesse's appeal. The reporters encircled them. Jesse lifted his hot gaze to her eyes and smiled. "Almost?" Slow and sexual, his grin spread awareness over her. "Sounds frustrating. Interested in changing that?" He ran his finger under her chin and she caught her breath. Yes, some part deep inside her shouted. Yes, she wanted to change that. Here was one situation her grandmother couldn’t smooth over with a lie. With the cameras rolling, Roger and her grandmother would get a clear picture that Alexi meant it when she said she wasn’t marrying Roger ever. “Yes,” Alexi said to Jesse, stepping closer to him. Waves of his sex appeal washed over her. Waves she had no trouble remembering, though she'd only been seventeen when she'd last dipped into them. His nearness and touch sparked something inside of her that wanted to rebel against everything that had just happened to her. “Kiss me,” she demanded, loudly.Jesse arched his brow and asked softly, "What’s your game Lexi?” His slid an arm around her and pulled her flush to his chest, her breasts to his hard muscle. Then his mouth covered hers. She gasped at the desire shooting through her as his tongue entered her mouth, and his gaze dared her to respond. She wound her arms around his neck, pressed closer to him, and met his tongue with hers. His eyes widened with surprise, telling her that he'd expected her to put him off rather than to take him up on his challenge. After that first moment, he didn't hesitate in delivering a four-alarm kiss. He bent her back over his arm, inserted his leg between hers and had one hand cupping her butt. In one kiss he ravished her from the inside out and she burned for more. By delivering a message to her grandmother, what message had she delivered to herself?

Smooth Irish by Jennifer Saints (aka Jennifer St. Giles
Lightning briefly illuminated the strong curve of his stubble-rough jaw, devilish smile, and raven’s wing hair whipping in the wind. Damn, the man had no right to look so sexy in the middle of hell. He stripped off his black leather jacket, pushed her umbrella aside, and leaned in close.
“You bait a nice hook, sugar.”
“You. You Peeping Tom!” Her search for something sophisticated and deadly to say fizzled as ridiculous.
“Careful. You’re giving me ideas for a new profession.”
She didn’t have a chance to reply before his leather jacket descended over her head and his strong arm encircled her.
“Tell me how sorry I am later, sugar.” He plucked the inverted umbrella from her, popped it back right, and held it before them as he propelled them toward the back door of the yacht club, not the least daunted by the storm's fury. But then, Nan didn't think much got past Jackson's thick wall. She gritted her teeth, irritated. Both the timing of Jackson's appearance and the man were too welcome for her peace of mind.
She tingled from the heat of his arm about her, the feel of his lean, hard body next to her, and the tangy scent of musk and leather enveloping her.

RT CON AND A KICKASS EVE OF DARKNESS

It's Monday morning and and I am groaning with the blues as well as feeling as if I got in the way of a Mack Truck going seventy to my two. It's called a RT Hangover and while the aches and pains of too much fun and work jam packed into one week have me low, I am still flying high from a week of running wild at the 2009 Romantic Times Convention. From fantastic work shops that I shared with hot authors such as Rita Herron, Barry Eilser, Anna DeStefano, Patrice Michelle, Eden Robins, and Heather Graham. It was a crazy few days that I already miss despite the screaming feet. And this morning I have a special treat from one fabulous author that I had the pleasure of Meeting. S.J. DAY. You do not want to miss this to die for Urban Fantasy .

EVE OF DARKNESS
A Marked Novel

by Sylvia Day

Tor Books
April 28, 2009
ISBN: 9780765360410

Cursed by God, hunted by demons, desired by Cain and Abel... All in a day's work.
For Evangeline Hollis, a long-ago fling with a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks just became a disaster of biblical proportions. One night with a leather-clad man of mystery has led to a divine punishment: the Mark of Cain.
Thrust into a world where sinners are drafted to kill demons, Eve knows her learning curve must be short. A longtime agnostic, she begrudgingly maneuvers through a celestial bureaucracy where she is a valuable but ill-treated pawn. She's also become the latest point of contention in the oldest case of sibling rivalry in history...
But she'll worry about all that later. Right now she's more concerned with learning to kill while staying alive. And saving the soul she'd never quite believed she had.
Look for EVE OF DESTRUCTION and EVE OF CHAOS, both coming in June!

ETERNAL MOON AND THE LOVE OF A WEREWOLF

No Gerard and Lena weren't werewolves in the movie 300, but the legendary love, passion, and courage of King Leonidas and Queen Gorgo lit up the screen and delved into the hearts of everyone. It may be a story of Spartan Warriors conquering the evils of an invading Persian Army, but at the very core of the story 300 is a romance, a eternal love that knows bounds and boslters both the King and the Queen to fight for good and for love. This element is what drives my Shadowmen Series and can be seen as a papable force in the love that blind Warrior Navarre and oil heiress Marissa discover as they fight for their lives and their freedom. I hope that you will catch the Shadowmen Heat Wave and see why Romantic Times Book Review calls thier love "TENDER AND EMPOWERING"
The Countdown to the release of Bride of the Wolf continues ( only 16 Days left) there are some fantastic books out, blogs up, and parties to attend that I will be sharing with you over the next few weeks. This spring is jumping hot. First off, Lori Devoti is celebrating Dark Crusade by having a FULL MOON MADNESS on her blog, loridevoti.blogspot.com
Then Rebecca York continues her "Moon" series with

As the book opens, Renata is on an undercover assignment to catch a serial killer who has been murdering female real estate agents, when she’s almost attacked by a pack of vicious dogs. They are chased off by a lone wolf who swiftly disappears. Then, out of nowhere, werewolf Jacob Marshall materializes, and his electrifying touch brings out all the sexual longings she’s repressed because everyone she has ever loved has died a horrible death. Is Jacob the key to breaking the ancient curse that hangs over them? Or will the evil stalking them down through the ages destroy them both–this time for all eternity?

How goes it with everyone today? Are you having as difficult a hump day as I am?

Let me introduce you to Jeremy, the model for Sam in the Kiss of Darkness (book is out now) trailer that will be coming soon. I will also be doing two great writing workshops this year at the RT Convention. On Wednesday April 22 in the morning I will be speaking about putting paranormal elements and twists into stories. Then on Thursday April 23 I wil be speaking about Creating the Ultimate page turner. Putting suspense and Conflict into novels. So if any would like a few pointers ahead of time don't hesitate to ask.
The Countdown for Bride of the Wolf is on! Just 20 days left. For those who would like a little taste: Blind and Injured Blood Hunter Navarre is kidnapped along with oil heiress Marissa Vasquez. Their bid for freedom, puts them into a deadly race for their lives as they become the hunted prey of two Vladarian Vampires and the evil Dr. Cinatas. Together Marissa and Navarre's spirits form a powerful link matched only by their passion. But can a mortal woman attain true love with a man who is half wolf? Or will their enemies steal their one chance at happiness?
I've heard the expression that it's in his kiss. Here's their first kiss.
Wrapped in a cocoon of warmth, Marissa snuggled closer and felt hair tickle her nose. She wiggled and shifted, wanting to sink back into the place of comfort and peace she’d been in, but unfamiliar sensations teased at her, the feel of strong arms holding her tightly, the solid beat of another’s heart close to hers, the gentle caress of warm fingers upon her face and her lips. They were dreamed for sensations and she sighed at the heavenly feel of them as heat tingled in every place her blood pulsed.
She moved closer, wanting more.
“You are awake?” The timbre of Navarre’s whisper, so close to her ear sent tiny shivers of pleasure everywhere.
Dios, you’re not dreaming!
“Navarre?” Marissa popped her eyes open and stared, stunned. Surely she had to be dreaming or dreaming that she wasn’t dreaming. She was in the truck. Shaded light streamed in through the window. She lay sprawled across Navarre’s lap facing him with her head resting in the crook of his shoulder, cushioning her from the hard door. Her legs stretched along the seat and into the floor. Her chest was pressed so tightly to his chest that she could feel the heat of him, the imprint of his amulet, and the beating of his heart as if there were nothing between them. Her palm rested upon the smooth, hot skin of his muscled arm that lay against the side of her breast as he caressed her face. Father Dom was nowhere in sight and Navarre was no longer a creature, but a man—a very large warrior with roughly hewn features, intense golden eyes, full parted lips, and a hard arousal pressing against her bottom.
“I hunger,” he said, her lips parted as he slid the pad of his finger along her bottom lip.
The dream was magical and perfect--heart-wrenching because Navarre was no longer this golden warrior, but a misshapen creature. Perhaps it was wrong of her even to imagine herself kissing him as he once had been, but she didn’t have the strength to deny herself. This one little moment in a dream wouldn’t hurt.
“Me, too,” she said then closed her eyes and brought her mouth to his, marveling at her imagination. His hand fell from exploring her face to rest against the swell of her breasts. Sensations exploded inside her that were so different from the ugliness and fear Herrera had thrust upon her, and she pressed herself eagerly to Navarre, needing something that she wasn’t sure how to express.
Marissa felt Navarre stiffen for a moment as if surprised; then he pressed his lips harder against hers and the stubble of his beard roughly brushed her skin. She fleetingly wondered why she would dream that but the thought was swept away by a hot wave of need. Her heart swelled and pounded, racing as wildly as the desire rushing through her.
Then…nothing. Wasn’t there more to a kiss?
She drew closer, moving her lips against his, wanting that more. He groaned, a deep rich sound expressing satisfaction greater than when he’d eaten the Snicker Bar. She automatically slid her free hand up his sculpted chest through the smattering of soft dark hair there then along his neck, relishing the sensual nuances of supple skin, burning heat, and hard man. She threaded her fingers through his silky short hair, sighing with utter pleasure at every sensation. Short?
Her eyes snapped open, bringing her fully awake from dreamland. Navarre the warrior she dreamed had long black hair to his shoulders. This Navarre had unevenly chopped hair, as if someone had taken a knife and sheared it off at an odd angle—like an old man wanting a toupee? Her gaze sought Navarre’s golden one. The fire in his eyes stopped her breath, making her feel as if she could drown in the molten pools, but his gaze was directed at some point a little down and to her right where her face had been when she’d first awaken. His hand at her breast was tentatively tapping up her neck like a blind person seeking an unfamiliar way.
This wasn’t a dream. This was real. Navarre was no longer a hairy, clawed creature with fangs, but he was still blind. How was it possible? Where was her brother? Was his fever worse? Where was Father Dom?
She backed away, flooded with questions and mortified over her forwardness in kissing him.
“Dios, I’m sorry!” she cried.
Navarre frowned. “Why? Was that not pleasurable for you?”
“Yes, but—”
“Good. This hunger grows like a fire that must be allowed to rage. You taste better than Snicker or Twinkie.” He slid his hand up her neck to her chin and brought his lips back to hers, hitting the corner of her mouth. Then he quickly dragged his mouth to perfectly fit hers. His hips shifted, pressing his arousal tighter to her bottom and she gasped, losing her thoughts to his sensual need. His tongue brushed over her lips, tasting her like he did the cream from the Twinkie and he moaned with pleasure.
Her heart flipped. She opened her mouth wider. His tongue swept over her lips again. This time she brought the tip of her tongue to his, wanting to taste him. He responded by delving his tongue deeper into her mouth in a wild seeking of hers. Her stomach clenched and fire of desire exploded inside her. This was the more! She needed to feel him everywhere against her. She wanted nothing between them.
“Madre de Dios! What is this…this…abomination?”
Marissa jerked away from Navarre to find Father Dom starring at her in horror. He had a wet cloth in his hands and a damp face, clearly having just refreshed himself. She blinked at him, desperately trying to find her wits and her voice.
“What is wrong? Is there danger?” Navarre tensed. Shifting and sliding his hand, blindly searching, he landed on her breast. An electric jolt went right to Marissa’s sex and a hot rush of embarrassment heated her face.
“Have you forgotten that you’re a married woman, Señora Herrera?” Father Dom asked.
More to come later. Until then, Happy Reading!

BRIDE OF THE WOLF RT 4 STAR REVIEW!

BRIDE OF THE WOLF by Jennifer St. Giles.
Coming April 28th, 2009.
Picking right up where last month's Kiss of Darkness left off, this novel's action moves to Belize. The story is divided into several different threads, each filled with danger, treachery and suspense. The love story between the major protagonists is tender and empowering, for they truly need each other if they are to survive. St. Giles also throws a potential new twist into the story arc that looks promising. The Shadowmen series just keeps getting better!
Summary: During the assault on the town of Twilight, Marissa Vasquez and blind Shadowman Navarre were taken captive by Vladarian vampire Herrera in a bid to gain control of Marissa's wealth and controlling shares in SINCO. Now a power struggle is brewing between the evil vampires, which means several plots are under way. Navarre is wounded and blind in this world; his only hope of saving Marissa is by calling his wolf spirit. HOT—Jill M. Smith 4 STARS

KISS OF DARKNESS ON ROMANCENOVEL.TV!

Good Morning! Continuing to Celebrate this week a number of great things! First off Kiss of Darkness is on romancenove.tv and the review is fangtastic!
Continuing the battle of good vs. evil that began in Touch a Dark Wolf, this book is the story of Emerald Linton and Sam Sheridan, two characters who have figured prominently in the first two books of the Shadowmen series.

Six years ago, Emerald Linton and her young daughter, Megan barely escaped with their lives after Emerald’s husband succumbed to the evil infection of a Vladarian vampire bite and tried to kill them. They remained in hiding until nine months ago when a vision led them to Twilight, Tennessee – a mystical mountain town with a prevailing sense of goodness. For a woman with Emerald’s special abilities, Twilight seemed the perfect place to raise her daughter and make a stand against the evil that she knew would eventually find them. She wasn’t looking for a man to complicate matters but Emerald hadn’t counted on Sheriff Sam Sheridan. Sexual sparks flew between Sam and Emerald the first day she hit town and have only intensified since then but Sam has no intention of acting on his desire for the Irish spitfire. Plagued by nightmares and flashbacks, Sam knows his soul has been irrevocably damaged by the sadistic drug lord who held him captive and cruelly tortured him for two years. He refuses to get close to someone he could possibly hurt during a flashback to that horrific time in the Belize jungle but fate has other plans for Sam and Emerald.

A former soldier, Sam is a take charge, no nonsense man who six months ago would have sworn on his life that vampires were a figment of someone’s imagination and sexy Emerald was nothing more than a flaky, telephone sex therapist who drove him crazy with desire. But that was before spiritual warriors who morphed into wolves showed up in his town, Emerald and her daughter had strange visions that proved startlingly accurate and Sam led a rescue mission to the jungles of Belize that ended with him being bitten by the same man who had held him captive - sadistic Vladarian vampire, Luis Vasquez. Now demonic forces from Hell and Earth are gathering near Twilight for the coronation of Cinatas, the new Vladarian leader whose goal is to rule the world and Sam finds himself battling demons and vampires while slowly losing his ability to control the violence and overpowering sexual hunger invading his soul. As the evil in Twilight strengthens so does the vampire infection in Sam and he finds himself in a race against time to save the citizens of his town and the woman and child he has grown to love before the evil coursing through his veins overtakes his innate goodness and turns Sam into a monster who could destroy them all.

In her new series, St. Giles has created a complex, fascinating world where evil vampires live and work among us, holding positions of influence, wealth and power, and seductive, shape shifting spirit warriors move easily between the spirit realm and Earth, battling to save mankind from the evil that threatens both their world and ours. She leaves no doubt who the bad guys are in these stories. They are ruthless, sadistic monsters who revel in their depravity with chilling delight. Conversely, her heroes are brave warriors who will fight to the death to protect the women they love - strong, intelligent women who willingly battle just as fiercely to protect their men. Though one couple is the primary focus of each book in the series and achieves their HEA by the end of their book, there is an ongoing, overlying story arc and an ensemble cast of complex, multi-layered characters (both good and bad) who figure prominently in all of the books.
I strongly recommend reading this series in order: Touch a Dark Wolf, The Lure of the Wolf, Kiss of Darkness.

Now, if you havent discovered her yet! You need to meet paranormal romance's hot new star! Larissa Ione.
Her newest is out and it's a must read

Now to Questing Vampires. First up. In Kiss of Darkness, Vampire infected Sam Sheridan is on a quest to save his soul.

The lives of several beloved characters hang in the balance while ruthlessly evil enemies continue their battle for domination of Earth in the enthralling third book of The Shadowmen series. Jennifer St. Giles has created an intriguingly fascinating and original world where each new set of circumstances is totally innovative and ingeniously depicted.
Twilight, Tennessee is a quaintly small town, but unfortunately there are those who want to use their powers to control all the inhabitants. The sheriff of the town, Sam Sheridan, knows about the supernatural demons and vampires who want to take over his community and is determined to stop them. Although he was recently bitten by a vampire during a rescue mission, Sam vows to not let the evil inside of him be in command of his life, especially when it might also concern Emerald Linton, a woman who has started to profoundly affect him in every way.
Ever since Emerald arrived in the mountains of Tennessee from Ireland, she and the sheriff have argued about numerous things, in particular when it deals with anything paranormal. There is also an extremely compelling attraction between them, one Sam desperately wants to deny. Emerald has psychic abilities plus is part angel, and she has firsthand knowledge of what may happen to Sam if he does not let her try to aid him. As the leader of the vampires puts his depraved plan in motion, Sam can feel the evil growing inside of him and tries to push Emerald away from him for her own safety, intending to win or lose his fight alone. Emerald is equally determined to save Sam from his potential destiny, resulting in a future for them both.
Believable realism makes the paranormal stories by Jennifer St. Giles come across as grippingly spellbinding. The situations arising all through KISS OF DARKNESS frequently take place because of extraordinary facts, yet Ms. Giles constructs these incidents to make them seem completely plausible. Supernatural beings, psychic abilities and wondrous events are portrayed in such a credible manner, the reader will not be questioning the validity of any scene. Starting with a creative premise for The Shadowmen series, this talented author has continuously added imaginative details to make each story inventively noteworthy. There are countless conflicts in this story, some concerning the physical takeover by merciless beings and other clashes which are only emotional. However, regardless of what is taking place during a certain moment, there is never a time when the reader does not feel connected to the featured characters as their sincere feelings are always clearly described through clever dialogue and genuine thoughts. The inner emotions of Sam and Emerald are especially detectable through the skilled writing of Ms. Giles, as their anguish or joy is always exceedingly palpable and definitely heartfelt. Any time these two are together, the scene is blazingly heated from the overwhelming steamy sensuality flowing between them, and their expression of these passions is intensely potent. The cast of characters is exceptionally outstanding, whether good or evil, and each one plays their part in the story to the fullest.. The ending perfectly sets up the next book, one I am eager to read. KISS OF DARKNESS is masterful paranormal storytelling which never disappoints with its striking images and stirring emotions.

"A FANTASTIC PARANORMAL THRILLER, FRAUGHT WITH DANGER, THRILLS AND SENSUAL PASSION."

Fresh Fiction Review is in and it Rocks! Just to let you know I will be doing an online paranormal workshop at Romance Divas March 20-21st at http://www.romancedivas.com
Now back to Kiss of Darkness.
There's a battle brewing in Twilight, Tennessee, with Emerald Linton and Sam Sheridan caught in the center of a clash of epic evil. Emerald has been running from the evil that had her fleeing Ireland with her young daughter years earlier. William Wellbourne is determined to have his revenge on Emerald for killing his brother. Sam is dealing with the aftereffects of his imprisonment and torture at the hands of Vasquez resulting in Sam being bitten by the vampire. It takes all of Emerald's magic to keep at bay the evil creeping into Sam's soul, while at the same time keeping the protection around Haven.
Emerald, Sam and their small band of rebels are determined to save their town from the evil converging on Twilight. Cinatas and Wellbourne are gathering their forces to attack, and when one nearest to Emerald becomes a pawn in the battle, it will take all that they have, and the support of their friends, to defeat the monsters and save not only themselves, but the town.
KISS OF DARKNESS by Jennifer St. Giles is a fantastically written paranormal thriller, fraught with danger and thrills from page one. Ms. St. Giles has a gift for building the tension in her stories, and her gift is evident throughout this one. Emerald and Sam are beautifully written characters, struggling to make something of their attraction while up against evil forces threatening their very existence. Their relationship is sensual and captivating in its intensity. This latest installment in the Shadowmen series is the best, and I eagerly await the next installment.

About Chris Marie Green
A long time ago, in a land far, far away (Milwaukee, WI, St. Luke's Hospital), Chris Marie Green (also writing as Crystal Green) joined the world. While moving to Southern California, then Kentucky, then back to California and now Nevada, she amused herself by writing poetry and short stories featuring the ultimate Alpha males--Superman and Indiana Jones. Later, after graduating with a B.A. in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Chris decided to become a professional writer.
While she pursued this goal, Chris worked as an eighth-grade teacher, but resigned in 2002 to pursue writing full time. She creates urban fantasies for her Vampire Babylon series, action-adventure stories, and romances. She also loves to read, overanalyze movies, practice yoga , and travel, and details her obsessions on her Web pages, www.crystal-green.com and www.vampirebabylon.com.
About Vampire Babylon
The first book, NIGHT RISING, was released as a trade paperback by Ace in February, 2007, and reissued in mass market format on January 27, 2009. The second trade book, MIDNIGHT REIGN, hit shelves in February, 2008, and will also be reissued in mass market format in July, 2009. The third book that closes out this initial trilogy, BREAK OF DAWN, came out in trade format September, 2008 (mass market reissue date pending). Ace is reissuing each book in the first trilogy to introduce the second trilogy (books four through six, which will be released in trade format).
The Vampire Babylon series uses trilogy arcs to tell one basic story, much like the way JK Rowling used seven books that didn’t solve every plot thread book-by-book to tell Harry Potter’s story. While each individual novel focuses on a central mystery that’s solved by the end, the three books together build character and mythology arcs/mysteries until everything culminates in the third book. Each trilogy repeats this pattern.
Release dates for the second trilogy, which continues the adventures of Dawn and team, are as follows:
A DROP OF RED, Book Four, March, 2009
THE PATH OF RAZORS, Book Five, August 2009
DEEP IN THE WOODS, Book Six, date pending

Then you need to read the prologue for KISS OF DARKNESS!!
Above I gave you a peek at the models that will be making the book trailer for Kiss of Darkness and the prologue! Just to give you more of a taste of the heroine, Emerald's battle to keep her and her daughter safe. Angel blood is craved by the damned. This scene occurs before Emerald meet's the hero Sam, but after reading it, you can clearly see why Emerald's life and heart are threatened when Sam is bitten by a Vladarian Vampire.
Prologue
Six Years Ago
Wiltshire, England

“Meggie, wake up, poppet. We have to be goin’ to a safe place, now,” Emerald whispered to her daughter as she brushed back the soft curls from her face. All snuggled into her Magical Realms comforter she looked like a sleeping sprite on a fluffy blue cloud surrounded by unicorns and fairies dancing on rainbows. Megan’s room was a treasure-land of everything “magical” she could find, as if she already knew she was part angel.
Blinking several times, Megan opened her eyes. They were more solemn than any five-year old girl’s should ever have to be. She pulled her Booboo Bunny close and rubbed her cheek against the pink fur. “Da comin’, too?”
She’d heard the argument tonight. Emerald sighed and bit her lip, fighting the burning sting in her eyes. She thought she’d cried all the tears she possibly could. “No. Da canna. Da’s not well, poppet,” she said, shaking her head.
Tears filled Megan’s eyes, making them bright green pools of pain that tore Emerald’s heart even more. “For-eber?” Megan asked, her breath catching on the word.
“Forever is a very long time,” Emerald said softly. There’d been so many things that she thought would be forever. Eric’s love for her. Her love for him. She didn’t believe in forever any more. “Maybe not.”
Megan nodded and didn’t say anything as Emerald helped her dress in warm clothes, but as they left her room, she trembled. The big teardrops sliding silently down her daughter’s cheeks sent another surge of anger through Emerald. Damn Eric. Damn herself and the bloody evil that was stealing everything away from them.
She hadn’t forced Eric to accept her help and now it was too late. Her terrifying vision along with tonight’s argument had solidified her fear. She might not have been able to read Eric’s thoughts, but the evil hunger for blood—her blood—was boiling inside him.
She and Megan were no longer safe.
Her husband was no longer human and she had no more illusions.
Eric’s soul now belonged to Michael Wellbourne. He’d left several hours ago and wouldn’t be back until dawn, until the last moments of Samhain and the wicked celebration at the Devil’s Mound had gyrated to an end. Since then, Emerald had packed the car with everything she and Megan needed to go into hiding and now it was time to leave. Yet there was so much of her in their little cottage—a photo here, a labored embroidery there, a gift rich in memories on the shelf that she didn’t dust often enough. She felt as if she were ripping herself apart as she walked out the front door.
She tightened her hold on Megan’s hand and pulled the “magic” comforter closer. As long as miracles and magic existed in the world, there was hope. This wasn’t the end. Somehow, someway, she’d fine a way to save Eric yet. She had to. For her sake as well as for Megan’s.
Her daughter walked bravely, clutching her bunny and her favorite bedtime book, Precious Princesses. Eric had bought it for Megan’s fourth birthday. Emerald swallowed the lump of emotion clogging her throat. Eric had called Megan Precious Princess from the moment she was born. So much so that when Megan was little and Emerald had told her daughter she was being a naughty girl because she kept standing on the seat of the shopping cart, Megan wrapped her arms around Emerald’s neck, gave her a huge smile, and said very adamantly, “I not naughty. I precious princess.”
So many memories. So many lost dreams. Her house stood on a hill overlooking the fog-ridden Salisbury Plain, Stonehenge, and highway A303, the fastest route to London. From that city she could disappear to anywhere in the world.
Sucking in deep breaths of the chill air, she opened the car door and helped Megan in, but her hands shook so badly that her daughter ended up buckling herself into her car seat.
Doona think about it now. You canna, Emerald told herself as she got into the driver’s seat and backed way from everything she believed her life to be. Her vision blurred as she pulled out onto the road.
“Wait,” Megan cried and Emerald hit the brakes, blinking away her tears before she turned to look at her daughter. Megan held out her pink bunny. “Da might need Booboo Bunny.” Her tiny mouth quivered, but she held her shoulders stiff and kept her eyes fierce.
Dear God. Emerald fisted her hand around the steering wheel and prayed for strength. Megan didn’t know Eric wasn’t human any more. Even Eric himself didn’t know. But Emerald knew, had known even before her horrifying vision. She’d sensed the final shreds of the man she loved being torn away this past week and she’d been unable to save him.
According to Angel Lore it might have been possible to stop it all a month ago, at the very beginning when Eric had first been bitten by Michael Wellbourne, a Vladarian Vampire and had yet to be controlled by the poison in his soul. But Eric wouldn’t listen. Wouldn’t let her try and help him fight the evil with her powers. He’d been too proud to begin with. Then he’d claimed the power burning inside him made him stronger, better equipped to fight the monsters of the damned. To his credit, he’d eliminated a record number of vampires in a short time, but that had suddenly changed last week. And all of his insistences that he could handle the situation, all of his denials over how strong the evil had become inside him were lies. Eric the Vengeful, the world’s foremost Vampire Slayer was now what he’d once hated and killed. Was now reveling with the enemy and embracing the damned.
He was still Megan’s father.
Looking heavenward, Emerald thought about backing up to the house so Megan could leave her bunny for Eric. But when she saw a black wedge-shaped shadow crossing in front of the full blood-orange moon, she froze, terror gripping her. It was exactly what she’d seen in her vision, an army of huge bat-like creatures crossing in front of the moon before they attacked her and Megan. She shuddered hard, trying to force from her mind the images of her and her daughter being tortured and murdered.
It wasn’t real, she thought, shaking her head. It wasn’t about to happen now, was it? In her vision she and Megan had been attacked while sleeping in their beds. Yet as she blinked and looked again, there was no mistaking the army of the damned. The dark, evil creatures were coming in their direction fast.
She shoved the gas pedal to the floor, racing down the winding road into the valley and the highway leading to London. Once the creatures discovered their prey had left, they’d come looking. She had no doubt. Their evil hunger in her vision had been unmatched by anything she’d ever known, not even the demons from hell that she used to regularly fight had been as bad.
“Wait!” Megan cried out. “Go back.”
“We canna, Meggie. We’ll have to send Da the bunny later.”
“A present? We can send Booboo Bunny to Da as a present?” Megan asked, sounding completely taken with the idea.
“Yes, poppet. Yes, we will.”
“But why not now?
“There are bad creatures coming.”
“Are they very bad creatures?”
“Yes.”
Emerald hurled into the darkness, heart pounding and stomach wrenching. She wasn’t going to make it to London where she could hide in the mass of humanity. And she couldn’t fight an entire army of evil creatures alone, not without drawing power from another source. Her powers were rusty, too. She’d barely used them since becoming pregnant with Megan. Motherhood had taken precedence. No demon fighting. No power tapping. Nothing more than an occasional misty vision until last night’s terror filled dream. The thought that their lives would now rest on her powers made her ill.
Sanctuary. She’d had to find a sanctuary instead. A place sanctified and blessed where the damned wouldn’t be able to reach her. The church in Amesbury? Could she make it? It was two miles away and she’d need time to break into the church, too. Turning onto the highway, she glanced back toward home.
The top of the hill had become a huge bonfire. Hellish flames were devouring her home, shooting high into the night as they consumed everything.
“Dear God!” she cried, running off the road in her shock. She pulled right, barely avoiding a crash as horror and panic gripped her. How had the creatures moved so fast? How had they caused such a devastating fire so quickly? It was as if they’d opened the earth and unleashed an inferno from hell.
Where were the creatures? She looked about. Frantic.
Sensing the grave danger, Megan cried for her and unbuckled herself. She came over the seat and grabbed Emerald’s arm.
“Meggie. Oh, God, Meggie. Get Buckled now!” Emerald drove with one hand and buckled Megan in the seat next to her with the other. She was petrified for her daughter.
“Mommy! Hold me.”
“I am in my heart, poppet. Can you feel my angel wings?” she asked, projecting magical comfort and protection over her daughter.
“Yes. And Nana’s from heaven, too.”
Emerald prayed it was true, that her mother’s angel wings were over her and Megan. She kept searching behind her, but couldn’t see the creatures, yet she could feel their evil pressing in on her. The night suddenly turned darker. Dear God…that black cloud rolling her way…moving faster than the wind…it couldn’t be. As she watched, two creatures, both larger than the rest, rushed ahead of the pack, moving at hyper-speed toward her.
She pumped the gas pedal, trying to go faster, but it was all the way to the floor. It wasn’t going to be enough.
The Stones, Em.
Her mother’s voice. She hadn’t heard the angelic sound in so long that she almost missed the soft tinkling. What stones? Did she mean Stonehenge? The Druid’s stones were just ahead, little more than a hundred meters off the roadway. But that would be suicide. She and Megan would be alone…with the creatures with no help.
Go, Em. Go to the Stones.
But—
Suddenly a hellacious screech tore through the night. Two thumps sounded on the roof of her car sounded. Then something pounded on the metal above. The roof dented more and more, caving inward until a black claw punched through. It sliced into Megan’s car seat.
Deafening screams filled the car. Hers. Megan’s. The creatures’. Emerald didn’t know. Everything all ran together in a blur. She and Megan were going to die. Horribly.
The heavy creatures shifted on the roof. Then a black face appeared in the windshield. Looking down into the car from above, he smiled, fangs dripping with blood. She knew its eyes. Eric. Another face appeared. Michael Wellbourne’s eyes.
Oh God!
THE STONES! GO NOW!
Emerald wrenched the wheel and careened off A303 toward the ancient stones. The car bounced hard, jostling Megan forward toward the dash. Megan’s scream was suddenly cut off.
Crying, Emerald grabbed for her daughter, caught her shirt and pulled her back.
“Meggie! Meggie! Talk to mommy, Meggie.”
Megan didn’t answer, but fell slack into the seat. What happened? She hadn’t hit anything?
“Meggie! Oh, God, please.” Emerald didn’t stop the car but plowed forward across the rutted field and through the ghostly fog toward Stonehenge’s monoliths.
The creatures moved to the hood. Facing her, one clung to the windshield, blocking out everything. Huge and black with wings, it stared at her with Eric’s eyes. No. Not Eric’s anymore. Eric’s gaze had never held the vitriolic malice glowing from this creature.
Everything became cold. Her heart, her soul, her skin. Even her breath frosted in the air. She became so cold that she couldn’t move, couldn’t steer or brake or look away from death. Grinning, the creature smashed in the windshield. Tiny cubes of cutting glass blasted everywhere, stinging her face and arms, welling up blood. The creature’s icy, evil hunger pierced her soul, wanting to master her, rule her, and devour her.
It reached for her throat, fangs ready.

Shift-appeal, Sex-appeal! Why do we love hunky beasts?

The idea of being more than mere mortal has been with man since the beginning of recorded history. Our fascination with the paranormal has its seeds in the ancient tales of gods and goddesses and superbeings and is woven again and again into the fabric of our culture through story. So what draws man to the idea of being more? Sometimes I think part of the allure is an excuse to give reason to evil behavioror an excuse to give free reign to all aspects of a base nature. Because, after all, it isn't the man killing, it is the beast within the man doing the dirty deed. No one likes to think or admit that man can and is capable of such atrocities. And is the beast is driving the needs beyond a man's control, then the man is blameless for the deeds. But mostly, and especially in paranormal romance, I think the draw to being more than our mortal-selves stems from the desire to transcend our own skin and fallible nature in order to accomplish a goal greater than our humanity will permit.

Enter our shapeshifting hunky heroes with unforgettable sex-appeal.

A being that is part beast must have more strength of body and more heroic determination in his soul to overcome not only human nature, but also animal nature to battle evil and attain love. And how much more gentleness is required for so great a being to so loving a partner? The shapeshifting hero makes the perfect tortured soul to grip a reader's heart and take that reader on a journey into the realm of miracles and change. He gives hope that no matter how bad things seem, that no matter how dire circumstances are, evil will be defeated and good things will come.

At least, I find those elements at the heart of all of my Shadowmen Shapeshifter stories and most of the other paranormal romances I read. When you boil away all of those entertaining and enjoyable aspects of romance what is left of the story, but the universal quest to see good triumph over evil, to see love bring salvation and fill all hearts to overflowing, to know that no matter what may come everything will eventually be good. I invite you to check out my Shadowmen, shapeshifting warriors from the spirit world who battle against the darkness in the world and within their own beings. Touch a Dark Wolf and Lure of the Wolf are on the shelves. So check them out and be ready for the next to explosive books in the series ---Kiss of Darkness coming March 31, and Bride of the Wolf out April 28th. And tell all of your friends to make a shapeshifter sensation in the publishing market be reading and demanding more stories about hunky beasts!!

What about you readers and writers out there when you boil things down to the nitty-gritty, why do you love shape-shifting, sexy, beasts?

Six years ago Emerald left England in the dead of night with her daughter, after seeing a vision of their deaths at the hands of her husband. Now after another vision Emerald is living in Twilight Tennessee. There is a battle going on between good and evil and a battle will be fought in Twilight. It's down to a group of shadowmen, their human mates, and their friends. Sam Sheridan is the sheriff of Twilight and also in love with Emerald even though he does not believe in her "woo-woo" stuff. Now Sam and Emerald are not only in a fight to save the town but also to save Sam's soul. During a rescue mission a vampire bit Sam. Now he is fighting the growing darkness that is trying to take over his soul. Sam is fighting it, but the longer he is around Emerald, the more her blood calls to him. Emerald has angle blood running though her veins, and that is something the vampires want very much. With the battle coming down to the wire, Sam and Emerald cannot keep their feelings about each other under control. If they can live though the upcoming battle can Emerald save Sam's soul from the darkness?

This it the third book in Ms. St. Giles Shadowmen series. In my opinion this series is one of the best. It is definite a keeper. The struggle between good and evil is told in a way that holds your attention. I, for one, cannot wait for the next installment of this entertaining series. You must read this series. It is great.

The battle between the Shadowmen and the Vladarian Vampires is reaching critical mass. Emerald and Sam are caught in the middle of that with a battle of their own. Sam is damned by a vampire bite and Emerald is part angel. If she can't save him, she'll have to kill him.

Something was wrong in Twilight.

Sam had the limo’s license plate imprinted in his brain, which meant he could track down the bastards without having to chase them down. Good thing. He’d probably be as lethal behind a wheel as he was with the gun at the moment.

Dozens of questions about what Emerald had just done and what had just happened screamed through his mind, but he didn’t trust himself to speak to her, yet. Not until he had a firm handle on his temper, which meant the FBI--or Myra if she was lying--would get the brunt of his rage. Nice.

“Sam,” Emerald said. “I’m sorry. I didna mean to—”

“Later, Em. I can’t think yet,” he told her, still gulping in deep breaths of air.

“Come on,” she said softly, taking his hand. She led him up the steps of the station and into the shadowed recesses of the entrance. For once she kept quiet, as if she really understood how tenuous his hold was. Even the tinkling of her bracelets grated on him.

What had happened to him?

He tugged her back before she could open the door, intending to take a moment more to gather his cool. But when he looked at her, she had that lip thing going again and all thought and reason abandoned him. Seeing her teeth sunk into her lush bottom lip that was now all moist and wet snapped something inside him. All of the desire he’d kept a tight lid on for months meshed with all of the emotion roiling in him and he lost it.

Taking hold of her shoulders, he leaned down and kissed her, sliding his tongue swiftly over her plump lip then sucking the sweetness of it into his mouth. Her heady lavender and spice scent mingled with womanly arousal filled his lungs and set his senses on fire.

Blood roared in his ears, rushing south to his swelling erection. He could smell, taste, and feel her on a level he’d never experience before in his life. It was all consuming. Wrapping his arm around her, he pulled her hard against his burning need. She gasped in response and his tongue invaded deep, sweeping the softness of her mouth and tangling with her tongue.

She moaned, angling her neck back to take more of him and he stepped between her legs, riding his thigh to the V of her hot sex. Her breasts brushed his chest and he had to touch her, had to feel their ripe fullness. Taste her. Suck her. Eat her. Thrust into her until nothing but mindless pleasure ruled them both.

“Sam, please” she said, splaying her hand against his chest, breathing as heavily as he was.

That was all he needed to hear. She wanted him as desperately as he wanted her. He’d known it forever. So why in the hell hadn’t they banged it up big time, yet? He couldn’t seem to remember why and wasn’t the least bit interested in thinking right now. He backed her to the wall and shoved his hand up her soft shirt to even softer skin and cupped her lace covered breast. Her nipple hardened and he groaned deep, shoving his arousal hard against her.

Emerald pulled back then suddenly smacked her fist into his chest.

He blinked at her, trying to see through his desire hazed vision. “Em?”

“I said please stop, you gack. Not please more.” She pushed at him again and he loosened his hold, surprised to find his hand palming her breast. Reluctantly, he slid his hand from her shirt and eased back from her, finally seeing clearly enough to realize they weren’t even in private.

Considering one could practically spit from one side of the town to the other, life in Twilight was like trying to lose oneself in a fishbowl. Anybody looking from the street or the parking lot would have seen them at least kissing, if not the full details of the kiss. And anyone exiting the sheriff’s station would have gotten an eyeful. Damn where in the hell was his mind?

“I canna believe you kissed me like that. After all this fooking time you up and kiss me now?” She glared at him, chest heaving with ire.

“I’m sorry,” he said. “I don’t know what happened. I shouldn’t have—”

“Yes, you bloody well should have. But you should have kissed me months ago when it would have been you kissing me.”

Stay tuned for more surprises!

The Lure of Romance

I have often thought that when you boil all of life down to its basic element. To the one thing that drives us all. To the one thing that we want most of all. That single element is simply love. It is the greatest of all things, a truth that lures our hearts to romantic fiction time and time again. We as readers and writers of romance, renew that truth with every journey of love we read. From the first seeds of caring to the full bloom of passion and devotion, we keep the story of love alive in us and in the world. So as I sit before my computer this morning after one of the hardest weeks of my life, wondering why I do what I do, knowing that life could be so much easier, and maybe even more profitable were I to seek out a nine to five job, I remind myself of this truth. With each book, I write the story of love, its magic, its ability to heal all hurts, and to conquer all obstacles. I write about love because it matters. It becomes the greatest thing for my chracters, which gives heart to their journey, and passion and meaning to their lives. I sincerely hope that readers will give Emerald and Sam from Kiss of Darkess (4/09) a chance to share their love with you and that you'll in turn share this message and their story with others. Then the same with Marissa and Navarre in Bride of the Wolf coming 5/09 In this struggling economy, the one clear message that all readers can give to booksellers and publishers is that romance matters and the way to do that is to buy and demand romance more than ever. For you see, despite such things as facts and numbers, when stores and publishers look at where to make cuts, they'll look to romance often, simply because in their minds...romance isn't important literature.
Much Love in this New Year

REVIEWS
As Owens' multifaceted saga, The Summoning, continues, the sorcerers get an unexpected bonus: two for the price of one in the form of twins...Events continue to darken in this intricate fantasy world, the stakes keep rising, and losses become inevitable. Strong characterization combined with deadly danger make this story vibrate with emotional resonance. Stay tuned as events accelerate toward the final battle. —Jill M. Smith, Romantic Times
This is one of the most engaging worlds ever to grace the universe of epic fantasy. Though the basic framework of the prior three novels is maintained, Keepers of the Flame does not follow any set "formula," but is filled with surprises as the sisters adapt and struggle in the world to which they have been summoned. Thus, what is loved about the other books is still there, but it is also a fresh, new spin on the overall story. -- Amanda Killgore, Huntress Reviews
I was utterly fascinated by this latest Exotique story. The Lladranans are coming closer and closer to finding a solution for finally facing the Dark in a final battle. They can only hope they can set all the pieces of the puzzle into place and finally triumph to save Lladrana once and for all. Robin D. Owens has pulled out all stops with this one in yet another intriguing peek into her Lladranan world. -- Kathy Boswell, The Best Reviews

MOONSTRUCK by Susan Grant
HQN Books, June 1, 2008

PEACE IS FOR LITTLE GIRLS.
And Coalition starship admiral Brit Bandar is one tough woman. A mere intergalactic treaty could never get her to trust the Drakken Horde. There was too much bad blood between the Coalition and the Horde and, for intensely personal reasons, Brit wasn’t sure that she was through spilling it! But now a peaceful accord has made Finn Rorkken, a notorious Drakken rogue, second-in command on her starship – and through some grand cosmic irony – front and center in her thoughts…and her heart.

WARLEADER. PIRATE.
Either title sat easily on Finn’s battle-hardened shoulders. Though second-in-command to “Stone-Heart” Bandar? That would take some getting used to. Peace required as much sacrifice as war, so he’d comply even if his reaction to the gorgeous admiral fell decidedly outside protocol. But would he end up kissing or killing her if the galaxy’s tentative truce turned into all out war?

My Twilight Zones

Thought I would post my blog from www.shapeshifterromance.worldpress.com. Stop by over there and check out some other fantastic authors. And let me hear from you!

Good Morning. Are you ready for a journey into the unknown? To escape into the life of another and experience the world through their perspective? As a writer it is a journey I make every day. But unlike most people who delve into a story, it isn’t a means for escape for me, but a painful quest. When people ask me if I write between the hours of 9 to 5 everyday, I tell them no. I procrastinate during that time and then I write. Especially today. I think I would do anything to escape these killer revisions I am banging my head against the wall on. Last night I was working until 3AM then up at 6 AM today. I am currently working on books three( Kiss of Darkness) and four (Bride of the Wolf) of my Shadowmen series. They will be released April and May of 2009 and thought I would talk to you today about My Twilight Zones.
My First Twilight Zone is in my books. If you’ve had the opportunity to read either of my contemporary werewolf books, Touch A Dark Wolf or Lure of the Wolf, you’ll know that I’ve set the Shadowmen Series in the fictional town of Twilight, Tennessee. The more I delve into building my paranormal world there the more fun I am having with taking everyday occurences and giving them a paranromal twist. Rain isn’t exactly just rain. Storms are more than just the clashing of warm and cold air, but the hot front of the Gaurdian Forces fighting the cold, evil front of the Fallen Army in the spirit realm. Tornados are more than whirling wind. And the Black Cloud over Hades Mountain…well let’s just say you don’t want that hanging over your head.
I’ve always been fascinated by the notion that the reality of the world is different than we perceive it to be. Of course, it is always slightly different because everyone is an individual and thus has a different perception of reality, but I’m talking about a really different and sometimes shocking suggestion of what a reality might be. I think that when a writer or a movie maker hits the right twist on skewing the world as we know it, they wake people up and get them to start thinking. Stephen King is a master at making you question your world and if the ordinary things in it are really ordinary. The Matix was another winner. But long before these came onto the scene, Rod Serling of Twlight Zone fame and his otherworld tales were there. For generations he has been feeding and expanding our our hunger for stories that take us beyond the limits of our everyday lives into the realm of things unknown to us and make us question life.
So my first question to all of you readers out there is what have you read lately that makes you take a second look at the ordinary world around you and question it?

My second Twilight Zone is my own horror story. It is one that I think almost every writer will at some point in their career agree with. It begins this way…
An ordinary woman enjoying everyday life is suddenly struck by an idea, a supposition of characters and events that would make a great story. But unlike the blessed ones of the population, this woman can’t let that notion of a story fade away into the heavenly graveyard for untold tales. No, she is compelled, driven to write that story. And that compulsion spirals her into a Twilight Zone of hell. Voices from those characters begin to ring in her head and soon those characters are having conversations with each other without a care as to whether the woman is trying to sleep or currently interacting with her own family, or trying to remember where she put the grocery list so she would forget anything at the store when those rude characters start talking in her head again. She can’t take a shower or fold clothes or cook a meal without interuption. This goes on for months at a time until finally the story is told and she writes The End, often with tears of relief streaming from her eyes. She thinks she is free at last. Little does she know she has only just begun the arduous journey of seeing that story told. That story will go on to be ridiculed and rejected and reviled and if she is very unlucky one soul will love that story, pay her a token for it and then have her cut and change that story so that it hardly resembles the original idea that inspired her to begin with. The the story is sent out into the world where the ridicule and rejection begins again. And if she is very, very lucky a few will buy her book, love her story, and tell her and her publisher how much they loved it. The woman, now free of the burden of story, goes back to her ordinary life and as she is trying to enjoy everyday events something happens, she is struck by an idea, a supposition of characters and events and she’s back into the Writers’ Twilight Zone that repeats over and over and over again.
Are there any other writers out there in the Twilight Zone?
Happy Reading and Heaven help the writers.

Wildfires and what love has to do with them.

This blog will likely be rough because I'm having one of those days where I write a sentence and then go back and write it ten more times because each version isn't as clear and concise as I wish it to be. So my apologies beforehand.

I've been around the romance writing industry for a number of years and I've seen a great many wildfires sweep devestatingly across the genre and its authors. There have been various reasons for these fires. Sometimes the fire isn't necessarily started on purpose by a person, but by accident or a misquided attempt to do the right thing that gets grossly misunderstood. I've seen fires ignited by careless words or actions. Fires started byimproperly aired passionate opinions which then send out sparks to light more fires.
Then there are the fires that start because someone made a serious mistake, such as using the words of another author improperly. In each instant, whatever the cause, this deadly fire takes hold just like one does on dry parched land and soon the world is ablaze, much like the devesation California had to recently face. It's sad and true, but I ask you just how necessary these wildfires really are?

We are all imperfect and we live in an imperfect world. Fires happen. It is unavoidable, but let me ask you this. What would this world be if everyone who encountered a fire chose to feed that fire rather than douse it quickly and quietly? It is a very scary thought, true., but it is exactly what happens with burning words and fiery tongues. They escalate and feed the fires, rather than help a situation and then the witch hunt phenomena takes over, and they sit back wanting to see someone burn.

I ask you, don't we all have a responsibility to throw cooling water on a fire and simply bring it to the attention of those who need to know, rather than spread the fire to the world?

So where does love fit into these wildfires that happen. Besides the fact that as romance writers we are the voice of love, we need to be the responsible party who spreads the cooling water of love and compassion. Fires happen, but they should never become wildfires.

Now that I've had my convulted say on the current wildfire surrounding author Cassie Edwards, I'd like to share with you a fire of a whole different nature.

One hot author and her new book you need to check out.
HEAT OF THE NIGHT by Sylvia Day
ISBN: 978-0061231032
HarperCollins Avon
January 8, 2008
Bad boys are her weakness and no one is as wicked as Connor Bruce…
He is the realization of every woman’s erotic fantasies. Existing in the Twilight between sleep and consciousness, Connor brings them decadent pleasures, fueled by their sexual energy. But violence and strife now tear apart both worlds, and Connor must embark on a perilous quest into the mortal realm … and into the arms of one intoxicating enchantress.
Stacey Daniels has always been attracted to the wrong type of men – and the muscular, Viking-like champion on her front doorstep is no exception. She can hardly believe the wounded warrior is from another world, a world where erotic dreams are needed to survive, a world of terrible danger that has followed him to her home. Connor finds solace in her passion, but only time will tell if he can defeat the dark foe who hunts them … and if Stacey can surrender to the promise he offers with every electrifying touch.

I’m eagerly awaiting the next book in Ms. Day’s marvelous series.”– Marcy Arbitman, The Romance Studio
“Day’s second installment in her Dream Guardian series starts off with a bang! Her hot and steamy sex scenes will leave readers breathless and aching for more. Excerpt Teaser:

For a moment, she couldn’t breathe. Her heartbeat picked up speed, wild, primal. She was naked. He could see every inch of her, every flaw. But her feet were rooted in place, preventing her from striding back into the bathroom for a towel. “What are you doing here?” she croaked. Jaxon’s hot gaze slid over her, down . . .down. . . then back up again, landing on her hardening nipples and staying. His pupils dilated, and he swallowed. “I came to talk.” “My breasts are flattered,” she forced out, “though I doubt they can answer any of your earlier questions.” His eyes snapped up to hers. “You’re the one walking around naked.” “You’re the one sneaking into other people’s rooms.” He pushed out a sigh as conflicted as hers had been inside the shower. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have looked. I don’t regret it, though.”

HOW TO LOSE AN EXTRATERRESTRIAL IN 10 DAYS, by Susan Grant. On sale July 26, 2007 HQN
Question: Where's the best place to hide an interstellar fugitive? Answer: Suburbia
His internal computers are offline, his former employers want him dead and the Men in Black are after him. Without his cyberpowers, Reef is as weak as a lowly Earthling. He's tried to kill every human he's met--so why on Earth would they help him?
Evie Holloway needs a bodyguard! Her fledgling chocolate business is mistaken as a money-laundering scheme for the mob and the bullets have started flying. But does the suburban soccer mom really want to shelter the alien hit man who almost offed her future brother-in-law?
She is desperate, and Reef is incredibly sexy. "Ten Days," she tells him--but it turns out that ten days just might be long enough to spark a love that's truly out of this world.

» I never intended that the assassin villain from Your Planet or Mine? would come back as the hero of his own book. I actually planned to kill him! I had thought no way is this particular bad boy ever gonna be hero material. Not only was he a career killer, he wasn’t 100% human. He was as cold and heartless as the hardware installed inside his body. It wasn’t until he was settling in for a long night in a vacant warehouse that I saw what he’d been hiding from even me. My sexy, ruthless, extraterrestrial killer was lost and alone, and had every reason to feel that way.
From then on, Reef fascinated me. Knowing what I now did about his background, I was determined to give him the happy ending he deserved. And the heroine he deserved. So, I present to you their story, one that begins in a land far, far away...

"With her unique blend of science fiction and romance, Susan Grant has created another exciting and touching story. Reef has an interesting, tortured past and his chemistry with Evie is nothing short of steamy. Grant never fails to deliver. I’ve enjoyed each of her books even more than the previous. And this one is no exception. Each of her characters is unique and endearing. And the story includes plenty of romance, action, suspense, and alien technology. I’d like a REEF of my own, please." MY FAVORITE EARTHLING by Susan Grant
HQN; March 1, 2007

Even a Goddess can have a bad day...Keira, warrior-queen of the galaxy, is as famous for her beauty as she is for avoiding marriage. But when an upstart little planet called Earth threatens her world with its fleet of spaceships, the fate of her people lies in her hands. She must bind herself to a barbarian from the rogue world...or face the destruction of her own!

She's what he never knew he always wanted...Confirmed bachelor Jared Jasper knew the trick Earth pulled on the alien invaders wasn't a permanent solution. What they needed was a peace treaty. It just never occurred to him that he would wind up on the bargaining table. Playing the pushover groom to a mouthy alien babe who knows how to use a plasma sword is not exactly his idea of fun. But with six-billion people depending on him, he doesn't have much choice--sleep with the enemy...or bring on interstellar war.

Strange bedmates? You bet. But this alliance may turn into a romance the likes of which this galaxy's never seen!

Warner Forever, July 1, 2007

Just stake me now.

My name is Sarah Dearly, and I've got major problems. Last month, I was turned into a vampire by the world's worst blind date. Then I may have, totally by accident, started a war between the mostly peaceful bloodsuckers and a bunch of sociopathic vamp hunters who have nicknamed me the Slayer of Slayers. Now I'm being used as bait to draw out the hunters' bad-ass leader, while my gorgeous 600-year-old boyfriend Thierry seems to be blowing me off, and my sizzle-hot, fanged friend Quinn is trying to turn my self-defense lessons into make-out sessions. So you know what? I'm done. I've had it. There comes a time when a vamp has to just suck it up and go after what she wants. And as soon as I figure out what that is, that's exactly what I'll do...

“Different? Unusual?” Aragon asked softly, staring at Annette intently, as if seeing her for the first time. The harshness of his features eased within moments as a sensual light warmed his gaze.
“You are so soft,” he said. “Your touch and your skin.” He slid his thumb down her throat to her collar bone and traced its ridge, making her heart pound and her body heat. She released his wrist and let her hand fall to her side, pressing her palm to the cool wall.
“I’ve never known things such as this fiery interest you ignite inside of me,” he said, brow drawing together. He didn’t look exactly pleased with his attraction.
She could have stopped his exploration, but her senses screamed too loudly for her to do anything but feel. How long had it been since she’d let herself feel anything but determination and guilt?
He leaned in closer and breathed deeply, making her impossibly even more aware of him. “What scent do you cover yourself in?”
“Gardenia,” she whispered, catching her breath as his fingertips splayed across the rise of her breasts, just above the edge of her towel. She arched to his touch before she could think, causing the tucked end of her towel to loosen and dip lower across her breasts barely covering her nipples. Seemingly awed by the feel, he followed the towel’s edge down, caressing the cresting curve of her breasts as his fingers pressed gently into her skin.
The erotically slow exploration had her trapped in a wave of edgy expectation. Her heart hammered with desire and fear, of him, of who and what he was, and of herself. She fisted the bottom hem of the towel in her hand, trying to keep from running her fingers in the silk of his hair or along the hard contours of his chest…and below. The six-pack tapering down to his impressive sex and thighs needed to come with a lethal warning label.
She’d always lived her life under such rigid control, yet here she was, a breath away from exploding. Whether it was the unexpectedness of the situation or the man himself, she didn’t know. She only knew she’d never been this sexually excited before in her life.
He could have easily jerked the towel down further, but he didn’t. Instead, he slid his hand up to finger a long curl that had loosened itself from her customary tight knot. He rubbed it between his fingers, slowly, savoring the feel and driving her need even higher because she wanted that sensual, luring touch…oh just where she burned. If he’d just…a vision of her dropping the towel and backing him to the wall to drive him past this lazy control rushed through her mind.
No. You have no idea what you’re getting into, or who or what he is. This isn’t like you, Annette! You’re disciplined, logical, rational...you’re--

AND THE WINNERS ARE!

How many fantastic movies would you miss if you waited until after the Oscars were handed out and then only saw the films that won? Does winning an Oscar make a film great? Does not having one make a movie bad? And how many times have you been frustrated that a movie you loved wasn't even recognized by the Oscars?
Do some of these questions sound ridiculous to you?
Why is then that people will only read a book or try a new author if they are on a Bestseller's list? There are so many fabulous stories and authors that get missed because of such a narrow perspective. So the next time you run across someone who'll only read the latest Ophra pick or what's top ten on the list, ask them those questions and see if you can't open their world up to the wealth of story gems sitting on an ordinary bookself, because more often than not there are winners there, too!
Well, enough ranting from me today.
I've a couple of winners to share with you.
MY FAVORITE EARTHLING. SUSAN GRANT's Newest and Hottest yet book has just hit the shelves. If you've never read any of this amazing woman's (she is an ex-military pilot and current commercial airline pilot) you're in for a real treat. Go to www.susangrant.com and read an excerpt.

BLOOD SECRETS by Vivi Anna a Silhouette Nocturne
A young human woman is found ritualistically murdered in a downtown Necropolis hotel. It is up to Caine Valorian, a 200-year-old vampire, and his Otherworld Crime Unit to solve the unusual crime, and quickly before the human press can jump onto the story and cause a panic. To add to their already tough case, a new member, Eve Grant, transfers to their lab at the request of the mayor. Not only is she green and eager to impress the boss, but she's human. The first human ever to work in an Otherworld unit. The mayor thought it would be great press especially now with the strange human murder. Caine has his work cut out for him, especially with his unruly team who don't appreciate any help from a human. Not only is this the toughest case of his career, but he's unusually attracted to the new girl, which can only cause trouble for them all. However, as they sink deeper and deeper into the workings of the case, Caine and Eve become closer and closer. So close that neither of them can see past each other and at the real happenings behind the scenes. The more they poke and prod at the case, the more they realize that something is going on, that this murder is only one step toward a greater purpose. Someone in the Otherworld community is calling on dark forces, in a plot to wipe out the entire human population. Excerpt: and www.valorianchronicles.com/bloodsecrets_nonflash.php#excerpt

IN REALITY, THE OPPOSITE PROVES TRUE

Well, as I enter the new year, belatedly reflecting upon resolutions, I realize that sometimes no matter what you resolve to do, unless that resolution becomes top priority in your life you are doomed to fail. Last year I had resolved to blog more and ended up blogging less, which really bites. Sort of like making a Bridget Jones resolution to weigh less and end up weighing more or to exercise more only to do so even less. LOL. Anyone ever have this problem?
THIS YEAR, I've decided to take the "have to" out of everything that I can and put the "love to" in anything I can. Everything that I can't put the "love to" label on is going to get "I'll do the best I can". So in summing all of this up, I have some good news to give and some bad news.
The bad is that Silken Shadows, the third book in the Killdaren brothers/Andrew sisters' trilogy will not be out in October of 07, but in Feb 08. I'll keep you posted if there are any other changes. The good news is that the sequel to Touch A Dark Wolf is on track and will hit the shelves in JULY 07.
Until then I will continue to post about some fabulous books from some hot paranormal authors. This month let me share with you
SURVIVING DEMON ISLAND by Jaci Burton
Bantam/Dell December 26, 2006
She's all curves and combat boots.
He's six feet of lean, dangerous male.
Join them in a game of survival.
That's as real - and hot - as it gets.
What's America's top female action star doing on a tropical island shrouded in secrecy? To Gina Bliss, competing in a survival-type reality show is a nice change from fending off on-screen villains. Until she meets real-life action hero Derek Marks. A survival specialist in a tight black T and sexy stubble, he's arousing every bad-boy fantasy she's ever had...and testing her survival skills to the max.
Martial arts, jungle warfare - Derek's done it all. But his latest mission is more dangerous than a stick of dynamite. Try telling that to the sexy, adrenaline-pumped actress who's got his libido racing off the charts. As the heat rises between them and real-life violence erupts, suddenly Derek and Gina are on the run...and when they uncover a secret so explosive it could blow the lid of their so-called reality show, these two unlikely heroes are about to discover what surviving's really about....

ABOUT JACI BURTON
Jaci Burton was born and raised in Missouri but now lives on an acre-and-a-half in Oklahoma with her husband Charlie. Jaci loves to write about passionate relationships with sometimes stormy outcomes but always a happily ever after. She’s a sucker for romance and a happy ending!

REVIEWS
Burton has an uncanny aptitude for intertwining the human and the paranormal so seamlessly that sudden demon attacks and labyrinthine underworlds are perfectly believable. Realistic dialogue, spicy bedroom scenes and a spitfire heroine make this one to pick up and savor. – Publishers Weekly

Big applause goes to Burton for succeeding in setting up a rousing & timely premise that is a real roller coaster ride. Not only does this book set the stage for further exciting adventures, it also delivers a great group of characters that have plenty of room for growth. Burton doesn’t skimp on the sizzling sex or romance either; this book has it all! Brava! 4 ½ Stars – Romantic Times BookClub

Fantastic reading is in store for paranormal fans with Jaci Burton’s new series about fighting demons. It’s a great good vs. evil story that will leave you breathless at times with the chills and thrills, and ready to take a cold shower at others as two of the neatest hero’s and heroine’s pull out all the stops as they get beneath the sheets, and behind their weapons. – Reader to Reader Reviews

CLICK!

Well, LOL. I know exactly how Adam felt in Click when the world became a nightmare of speeding through time. Since my last blog in AUGUST! ( Can I even freaking believe that it was that long ago? It seems as if it was just yesterday that Touch A Dark Wolf hit the shelves.) Well, as I was saying, since my last blog, I've (1)written the sequel to Touch A Dark Wolf.--Be on the lookout for THE LURE OF THE WOLF coming in JULY of 2007--(2)Moved from the house we'd lived in for almost eighteen years. And (3) Had major sugery to remove a tumor from my pituatary gland. Yeah, that's located just below your optic nerve inside your head. A very scary thing to face, but I am glad to say that all is now well and I am on the mend.
Unfortunately, I feel as if I have missed bits and peices of some of the most important things over the past year as I have dealt with deadlines and illness. One of them would fall into the category of keeping in-touch with my readers!
Many authors find the time and the energy to Blog everyday and I so envy them. I'm sort of the quiet type, so blogging everyday or even once a week seems almost too daunting a task to take on. (Yes, you have my permission to laugh. I can write a 400 page book with less angst that I have with the Blog.)
Anyway, I am fastforwarding to (Click) My Newest Release. DARKEST DREAMS (A FOUR AND A HALF STAR TOP PICK FROM THE RT Book Club) hits the shelves on DEC 5th. Though I hear rumors that people are already buying it in the store now.
This is the sensual sequel to MIDNIGHT SECRETS where Andromeda Andrews meets her match in Alexander Killdaren.

Here's a excerpt of the story below.! I hope all of you will take the time to enjoy my paranormal story set in the Victorian era.

Darkest Dreams
The seductive tone of his voice went straight to my head with dizzying force. I wasn’t sure how I navigated my way across the deck.
Suddenly, before we had quite reached her, the mare reared up again and broke free of her handlers, charging right at us.
“Damn,” Lord Alexander said as he scooped me up. In that moment, I saw into his mind as he jumped onto the bags of waiting rice. The image of a naked woman with blonde hair, bound in his bed flashed before my eyes. My breath caught then flew away with the vision as he deposited me out of harm’s way on the deck and grabbed one of the ropes trailing the mare. She instantly reared up, pawing the air, but he held on, tugging gently on the rope and whispering soothing words to the frightened animal. She pranced nervously in place before butting him with her head. When she appeared to be quieting, Lord Alexander grasped her halter, continuing to gentle her with his voice. I had no idea what he whispered in her ear, but I did know one thing.
The bound woman in his bed had been me.

TOUCH A DARK WOLF BY JENNIFER ST. GILES Pocket Books. RELEASE AUG. 29th.

Here's a little excerpt!

She should move, scramble to the front seat of the SUV and get out of range. But she didn’t; she stared into his iridescent blue eyes as if mesmerized. This was not happening. This injured, delusional stranger was not hitting on her, he was not pushing her hot buttons, and she was not responding to him.

She’d been seeing Ben & Jerry’s exclusively for too damn long.

Erin cautiously ran her gaze over Jared. A six-foot something hunk of power thighs, pumped pecs, and piercing blue eyes didn’t walk by every day. The man was so potent that even his light touch was a heady aphrodisiac. The sensations he drew from her were stronger than anything she’d ever know, or at least could remember. It had been a while.

You don’t know him from Adam.
Eve didn’t know Adam either—at first.

He brushed her lips again, and she gasped as little fissures of electric heat zinged to her breasts and below…

Jared couldn’t stop himself from touching her mouth, fascinated by the new sensations of pleasure replacing the pain in him. Pleasure that made him want to touch her more, to explore the realm of desire he’d only heard of before, but had never experienced. When he’d pressed his hand against her a few moments ago, he’d felt such inviting softness that he wanted t bury himself within the comfort and ease she brought. But that was not a warrior’s way.

He leaned back in the seat and grimaced at the sharp edge of pain that grew stronger, the farther he moved from Erin. With that pain came a greater awareness of the sweet, heady scent of her blood and a dark hunger clamored inside of him. He gritted his teeth, pummeling the need with his steely will. He would have to leave before he killed her.

She was an Elan and the Fallen fed upon the blood of the Elan.

He would soon walk with the Fallen.

Talk more soon!
Thanks

Think the grocery store is a great place to meet men? Hunky interstellar fugitive, aisle 5.

With outrageously false accusations piling up against her famous political family and an ex-fiancé in hot water determined to take her down with him, the last thing Jana Jasper needs is more trouble--especially man trouble. But when she heads to the grocery store for an ice cream fix, not only does the muscled hunk in the frozen foods section ranting about spaceships and invasions look crazy, he looks... familiar.

Cavin of Far Star has never forgotten the girl he met during his weeks spent on that quaint little world, planet Earth, the girl who didn't believe he was real. And now he'll risk his future to save her. All she has to do is take him to her leader. Simple enough plan--although Jana isn't so easily convinced. LOL AND MISSED!

Okay. All right. Procrastination is not just my middle name, but my first and my last as well! It is July 15th already and I am just now making it to blogdom This month! But that just means more for you today!
Many family concerns have been eating up what little spare time I have with the double deadlines I am rushing to meet. So, yes, I do have an excuse or two, but doesn't everyone? Cutting to the matter at hand, I have to say that my first two Reviews for TOUCH A DARK WOLF are out and they sizzle on the page about Jared and Erin's steamy love. Many thanks to those who see the passion and believe in the magic! The book will be out August 29th!
Until then, let me introduce you to some more magic and passion with a witty twist!

WHAT, NO ROSES? by Marianne Mancusi
(Love Spell, July 4, 2006)
And you thought your Valentine's Day was bad?
Unless Dora Duncan can stop it, it's going to be another St. Valentine's Day Massacre. A year ago, her (now ex) boyfriend Nick stood her up at the worst possible moment. That was when she gave up important TV reporting for stories like "Too Stressed for Sex." And though such clips have a certain relevance, things have been a whole lot quieter. Too quiet. Until now.

Now she's gotta go back in time (don't ask!) and stop that very same Nick from messing up the time-space continuum. She has to travel back to a place where everybody speaks easy and cuts a rug-and this Chicago ain't no musical. Here, there are tommy guns and torpedoes, guys and dolls, gin joints, flappers, stoolies, rats and a whole lot more; and prohibition means anything but no.

It's the 1920s. Time for Dora to roar.

ABOUT MARIANNE MANCUSI
When not out exposing scams and righting wrongs, Emmy award–winning TV news producer Marianne Mancusi is probably writing.
Her first chick lit novel, "A Connecticut Fashionista in King Arthur's Court" was called "a sparkling debut" by Publisher's Weekly. And Romantic Times magazine awarded four Stars to her upcoming 1920s time travel "What, No Roses?", pronouncing it "fast, funny and as bubbly as bathtub champagne."
In addition, Marianne has six other adult and teen books under contract, including a teen comedy vampire series from Berkley called "Boys that Bite."
She lives in Boston's historic North End.
REVIEWS
Mancusi’s witty, tongue-in-cheek remarks and sprightly dialogue make for a joy ride of a read with an ending that’s as surprising as it is original. 4 stars – Romantic Times

Ms. Mancusi’s sense of comedic and dramatic timing is dead on... She masterfully blends a time in our history with an idea from her incredible imagination. – Once Upon a Romance

With the talking rodent sneaking peeks down her shirt and Nathaniel getting more irresistible every minute, this ex-angel has only one hope: find the stolen Key to Heaven and go home.
Then the oddest thing happens-Nathaniel starts to show signs of loyalty and love. And soon Val is asking herself if it is such a bad thing to have the hots for a demon.
So pick up Angel With An Attitude by Michelle Rowen to spark up your holiday!

More tomorrow because I'm determined, LOL to post July 1st and at least once a week thereafter.
Thanks and happy reading

The Blogging Blues

Someday, I promise to myself and to the world that I'm going to master the art of the blog and find time to give a daily report about how mad my life really is. So many things start out as tiny snowflakes, a little light flicker with just a taste of something and then somehow they manage to turn into avalanches.
LOL. Yeah, I still feel buried, but I had a fabulous weekend in Las Vegas at a conference and sold more books at one signing than ever before to people who loved my writing. That's something that no author will ever get enough of. And now I'm ready to put my nose to the grind stone again.
For those of you in South Georgia. I will be singing Tues. June 2oth at the Waldenbooks store in Albany Georgia at the Mall. Midnight Secrets, His Dark Desires and the Mistress of Trevelyan.

Now to let you know about to hot summer reads you won't want to miss!
CALIFORNIA DEMON: The Secret Life of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom by Julie Kenner
(Berkley Trade, June 2006)
What's a mother to do, when there are only so many hours in the day, and the fate of the world is in her hands?
Kate Connor was a retired demon hunter. Now, after fourteen years busting her tail as a suburban housewife, raising two kids, and supporting her husband's political ambitions, she's rejoined the workforce-and except for a few minions of evil, no one has a clue. She tries hard to keep her home and work lives separate-a good idea when your job involves random slaughter.
Between fending off demon attacks, trying to figure out why the mysterious new teacher at the high school seems so strangely familiar, and keeping a watchful eye on her daughter's growing infatuation with a surfer dude, Kate is the busiest-and most dangerous-soccer mom on the block…

REVIEWS
"more witty, funny and poignant adventures from the marvelous Kenner." Combining PTA dangers with demons certainly keeps the characters on their toes and readers chuckling. 4 stars – Romantic Times

While there is a plethora of outstanding romance/dark fantasy sagas currently being released … Julie Kenner's Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom novels are noteworthy in large part because of the author's wit and incredibly intuitive sense of humor. Lines like "Infiltrating a nest of vampires at dusk might be a tad on the treacherous side, but it's nothing compared to telling a fourteen-year-old that she's not allowed to wear eye shadow" will have readers laughing out loud from the first page to the last. If you've changed a leaky diaper, picked up a spilled sippy cup, or purchased a McDonald's Happy Meal within the last 24 hours, this fast-paced, delightfully irreverent amalgam of romance and dark fantasy is for you. – Barnes & Noble

ABOUT REBECCA YORK
Ever since she can remember, Ruth Glick has loved making up stories full of adventure, romance and suspense. As a child she corralled her friends into adventure games or acted out romantic suspense stories with a cast of dolls. But she never assumed she could be an author, because she couldn't spell. Her life changed, however, with the invention of the word processor and spelling checker--and the help of her husband, Norman Glick, who spots spelling errors from fifty paces away. Writing as Rebecca York, she has authored or co-authored over 45 romantic suspense novels, many for Harlequin Intrigue's very popular 43 Light Street series, set in Baltimore, and many with paranormal elements.

REVIEWS

The York werewolf moon novels contains several excellent paranormal romantic suspense tales (see CRIMSON MOON), but SHADOW OF THE MOON may be the best of the series so far. The action-packed story line is fast-paced and filled with sexual tension accentuated by the danger that the audience will taste as if we have the enhanced sense of a werewolf. The lead couple is a delightful pairing as they investigate the goings on at the club, what happened to Charlotte, and the attraction between them in a gripping thriller. – Harriet Klausner

Fans get to meet yet another Marshall boy in Rebecca York’s latest novel about the werewolf clan, SHADOW OF THE MOON.This time it's freelance reporter Lance Marshall and he's scented out a story on an very exclusive D.C. establishment that he's heard rumors about, the Eighteen Club.. . .
As if werewolves, psychic abilities and lifemates aren't enough, York adds yet another element to her werewolf series in SHADOW OF THE MOON. It makes for excellent reading. -- http://fromthestacksmacon.blogspot.com

York’s highly popular werewolf tales take an even more intriguing turn in this new story. The sexual tension is taut and the story crisp, which keeps up the momentum. The small side plot is an engrossing teaser for the next chapter in this quite compelling saga. 4 ½ stars – Romantic Times

There's a slippery slope!

Okay folks,

Not only did I fall off the end of the Earth, I have discovered there's a slippery slope on the edge that keeps snatching my eyes beneath the horizon! But I refuse to give up, I am determined to force my way forward and to keep posting great stuff here! First thing is that MIDNIGHT SECRETS has done well, GREAT REVIEWs And FABULOUS READER MAIL, so I must thank you all from the bottom of my heart . I sold out of the book at the Romantic Times Convention last week! Next I have to tell you I had a fabulous time at the Convention in Daytona. The ocean, beach, and fun just refreshed my spirit and helped me to gain some perspective on personal and health issues currently dragging me down. I've written more since I've returned than I have in the past few months. I was burned out, but now I am excited again and that means more books that I hope you will love!
Next, I want to say a word about support. Life is too short and people are too precious! Please whenever you can reach out a helping hand, whenever you can say the right word to soothe, whenever you can end a malicious jibe, please don't hesitate to be the person that makes the difference!
Now I have a little goody to tell you about. Fellow Paranormal author, Jaci Burton, who is hot, hot, hot has a new book out! And OH MY GOSH! Have you ever had the fantasy of not one but two hot men after you?
OUT OF THE DARKNESS by Jaci Burton and C. J. Burton
(Ellora’s Cave)

Harlee has lived as a human her entire life, working as a psychiatrist on a secret government project evaluating captured werewolves and vampires. Then one night two strangers jerk her from her bed, blindfold her and turn her world upside down. She is taken deep into the realm of lycans and vampires and told an unbelievable story-that she is the daughter of a forbidden union between a vampire and a werewolf and now possibly the future leader of both their clans.

She doesn't believe them. Vampires and werewolves are the enemies of humans. She hangs onto her humanity, her one and only goal to escape from her sexy and enigmatic captors before she loses her heart and possibly her very soul.

The vampire Adrian's and the lycan Duncan's goals are entirely different-to mate with the fiery beauty and determine whether her dominant blood is vampire or werewolf. One merely desires her. One will claim her for all eternity.
But dark forces turn what begins as a search for identity into a struggle for survival.

“When two are born together, one will die by the other’s hand…”
This is the Dragon’s Curse that has plagued the Killdarens for generations and continues on in this tale set on the Cornish Coast of 1879 England. Sean and Alex thought they’d escaped the Dragon’s curse until in a rage of suspicion and accusation the twins come close to killing each other the night the woman they both loved was murdered. Eight years later, the only thing they agree on is to remain unwed and childless, to never pass on the Dragon’s Curse. Then another woman disappears. This time from Sean Killdaren’s castle and his reclusive world is shattered when Cassie Andrews, a journalist, goes undercover as a downstairs maid. He can no more ignore her than he can ignore the murderer hiding behind the secrets of Killdaren Castle’s stone walls.
Berkley/Jove Publishing ISBN# 0425209628

Here's an Excerpt!
A leather gloved hand clamped over my mouth and nose from behind. An arm wrapped around my stomach and arms, trapping me, and jerking me back against the hard body of a large man. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t scream, I couldn’t reach my pistol. I could barely move. Terror flamed in my breasts and fired through my veins. The man pulled me deeper into the darkened room, shutting the door. And I wondered if this was how Mary disappeared.
Wrenching violently, I tried to free myself, but the man clamped me tighter to him, crushing me with his strength. I pressed my head back, fighting to ease the pressure on my face enough to breathe. In my panic I remembered the size of Jamie Frye, his anger, the veiled threat that if I were to die none would care. Then the hand covering my mouth and nose loosened enough for me to suck in blessed air. I smelled leather, mint, and something frighteningly unknown, but compelling enough that I drew another needed breath.
“The scent of roses,” a deep, cultured voice with a hint of an Irish burr whispered close to my ear, and I knew it wasn’t Jamie. “The feel of a woman.” As he spoke, his arm about my stomach slid higher, pressing beneath my bosom, almost caressing the undersides of my breasts a moment. I rammed my spine back, lifting myself to my tiptoes, trying to keep from knowing the warmth of his muscled arm so intimately against me. This brought his mouth closer to my ear, and the heat of his breath.
“The actions of a thief,” he said softly, his tone more menacing. My heart thundered harder, more painfully. “Will you come to such an ill fate, lass? ‘Like a rose, she has lived as long as roses live…the space of one morning?’ or will it be even less for you?”
Any affinity I had for Malherbe’s poetry met a quick death at that moment. I shook my head, trying to speak, but only managed a muffled squeal.
“Let’s see what you’ve stolen, my rose.”
I didn’t understand what he meant to do until he moved his gloved hand from beneath my breasts, sliding downward, pressing firmly along the contours of my body all the way down to my hips, then brushing over my intimate flesh as he slid from one dress pocket to the other, finding my father’s pistol. His body jerked with surprise and he drew a sharp breath.

It's good to be back! Many thanks for stopping by!

End the summer with a bang!

A Kickass bang from two hot authors!
But first a note from this horribly stressed author, who, considering the wild and crazy storms hitting our coastline, doesn't have any real reason to complain. But, since you popped onto this site, I'll tell you anyway. I'm still putting the final polish on that book I finished almost two weeks ago. Why the delay? Well, things are hot and hopping at my house with A/C woes, broken toilets, flooded attics, and self-destructing closets, which are all currently in the process of being fixed at last...I hope.
Now about KICKASS! Whoa baby! The blurbs say it all. Angela Knight in WARFEM and Mary Janice Davidson in THE MISADVENTURES OF BOO AND THE BOY BLUNDER deliver one hot ride!

Warfem” featured in KICK ASS by Angela Knight
(Berkeley Trade, September 2005)
They're sexy. They're smart. And they aren't afraid of a little danger-not even when it comes to matters of the heart... Four of today's hottest authors present a quartet of stories about bold women who take no prisoners-either in a fight or in love. Whether it's in the bedroom, in the outer limits of the galaxy, or out on the mean streets, they kick heart-stopping action to the next level. These are women who can hold their own and aren't to be trifled with. The men in their lives know that-and they love it...

In “Warfem,” Alina Kasi reunites with her lover Baird Arvid after two decades apart. Passion instantly blazes between the two superhuman warriors, but old enemies and new lies may tear them apart. And Alina dreads what Baird will do when he finds out about the secret she’s been keeping for the past twenty years. But she soon discovers she’s not the only one keeping secrets.

The Very Heart of Paranormal Romance and oh so Hot, too!

Big celebration in order here! Something that I have been wanting to do since I won the Golden Heart for Paranormal romance in 2002, I have finally accomplished. I wrote THE END to my first paranormal contemporary book that will hit the shelves in July 06, but that doesn't mean it is over. After THE END there is still a great deal of work to be done to make the story great. And here's one author who did it right. If you haven't met her yet, you need to. And if you haven't read her yet, you need to! Gina Showalter!
Paranormal Romance opens up vast worlds for authors to stretch their imagination and delve into conflict rarely believable in the ordinary world.
Gena Showalter cuts to the heart in her paranormal romance, Heart of the Dragon. How much stickier can it get to have a hero desire the very woman is he sworn to kill!!! Brava, Gina!
HEART OF THE DRAGON by Gena Showalter
(HQN Books, September 2005)
He’ll make you burn…
He is a Dragon, a rare breed of warriors able to transform into the legendary creature at will. Though the mighty warlord breathes fear into the minds of his enemies and fire into the blood of his women, no one has ever stirred his heart -- until he encounters Grace Carlyle of modern day Earth. He burns to possess this proud, alluring beauty . . . but he has sworn to kill her.

Journey to the mythical world of Atlantis, where the gods’ hid their greatest mistakes – the vampires, demons, dragons, and other creatures of legend – and experience white-hot passion, exciting adventure, and a love that defies the boundaries of time and magic.

Beyond Control!!! Intrique, Suspense, and Steamy!

Rebecca York got it right her hot suspense BEYOND CONTROL!! Just out from Berkley Publishing.
I'll tell you all about it in just a moment. First, a bit of an apology from me and my beyond reasonable control life. Since beginning this blog months ago(seems longer than that), my life started sprialing toward disaster! Fate is doing its best to keep me from posting many of my thoughts. The only time I've had to think is while driving, and by the time I get to the computer to write, I'm so harried, I can't remember a thing. Being target practice for the cosmos has me running on empty and ducking for cover. So, my apologies for having a less than happening blog and I'll endeavor to change that once I get through double deadline hell!
Now about Rebecca York!
After reading an excerpt for the first chapter I am thoroughly intrigued and can't wait to have time to read this hot book! It's an edge of your seat ride from the sex to the suspense. Don't miss it!
See what others are saying!

WOW! This was certainly one very hot, steamy, mind boggling and exciting suspense thriller. . . an absolutely riveting tale of suspense . . . with well-developed characters, stunning sensuality and some clever twists. A truly dynamite read! --Romance Designs

BEYOND CONTROL . . . plays out on two interwoven levels. The storyline is action-packed from the opening sequence at Maple Creek and never slows down until the lead couple learns what happened there. The tale also contains a delightful romance between Jordan and Lindsay that starts off with A Strangers in the Night encounter . . . and plays out on physical and paranormal planes. .. . a strong suspense-laden romantic tale. --Harriet Klausner

Four plus, Top Pick --RT Book club

BEYOND CONTROL by Rebecca York
(Berkley, August 2005) tells the story of telepaths who discover and develop their powers only when they sexually link with another of their kind.
Jordan Walker and Lindsay Fleming meet at a Washington, D. C., cocktail party. When they touch, they experience an electric moment of psychic awareness. As they explore the unique bond forming between them, they discover that the more intimate their contact, the more their psychic powers develop.
As with York’s Moon books, Lindsay and Jordan must work out their personal relationship against a background of danger and suspense after they stumble onto his murder cover-up at a secret biological weapons lab. At the same time, two other telepaths who want all the psychic goodies for themselves set out to wipe Jordan and Lindsay from the face of the earth.

“Moon Magnetism” featured in STAR QUALITY by Lucy Monroe
(Kensington Brava, May 2005)
Ivy Kendall dreads the full moon. For generations, women in her family have been extremely magnetic on that day—which was fine fifty years ago but not in the age of hard drives and cell phones. That’s why the hotel manager has resisted the technological improvements her boss wants her to implement. Now, the sexy, dynamic Blake Hawthorne is coming to insist on the upgrades in person. Shoot, he’ll probably fire her. Being around Blake makes her body go as haywire as a full moon, maybe even more. And as long as she’s going to be out of a job soon, there’s no reason not to use a little of that magnetism to her advantage, luring him into an elevator where the only electricity that will work is the kind they generate themselves…

Carpe Demon!

As I'm struggling under a killer deadline to put the right words on the page, I have to take a breath and smile at a fellow writer's hard earned success. Some times pure genius hits the page and Julie Kenner has a hands down winner for that award this summer! Carpe Demon!
The title is just the beginning taste of this author's mastery of wit and humor and the story is even more irresistible! See for yourself.

CARPE DEMON: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom by Julie Kenner (Berkley, July 2005)
Carpools. Crabgrass. Creatures from the depths of hell. Suburbia has its problems too...
Lots of women put their careers aside once the kids come along. Kate Connor, for instance, hasn't hunted a demon in ages...
That must be why she missed the one wandering through the pet food aisle of the San Diablo Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, he managed to catch her attention an hour later-when he crashed into the Connor house, intent on killing her.
Now Kate has to clean up the mess in her kitchen, dispose of a dead demon, and pull together a dinner party that will get her husband elected to County Attorney-all without arousing her family's suspicion. Worse yet, it seems the dead demon didn't come alone. He was accompanied by a High Demon named Goramesh who, for some unknown reason, intends to kill off the entire population of San Diablo.
It's time for Kate Connor to go back to work.

CARPE DEMON: ADVENTURES OF A DEMON-HUNTING SOCCER MOM has been optioned for film by Warner Brothers & 1492 Pictures, and is scheduled for release as an audiobook from BBC America Audiobooks.

In addition, CARPE DEMON was recently honored by being selected by BOOKSENSE as a Summer 2005 Paperback Pick.
Do me a favor, after you read this jewel, let me know and e-mail Julie so you can get on a list to find out when the movie is coming out!
Stay safe this summer!

Master of the Moon

There's great news after this hot July Fourth Holiday! I hope you and your fams had a fabulous time with BBQ's, picnics, and fireworks. Unfortunately for me, deadline hell prevailed. I spent the day chained to the computer and still am, but things are shapeing up harrowinly nice and deliciously sexy for my werewolf story! Meanwhile, for those of you who are looking to set your summer on fire, have I got a book for you!

Angela Knight's Master of the Moon is on the shelves but won't be for long! Fans looking for her trademark heat and mastery of the paranormal will be grabbing up this hot summer read, so don't delay and don't miss it.
Here's a peek!

MASTER OF THE MOON by Angela Knight
(Berkley Sensation, May 2005)

Diana London works hard in her day job as the city manager of a small South Carolina town. Yet she still finds time to moonlight for the Verdaville Police Department.
As a werewolf.
But while helping the police investigate a brutal murder, Diana discovers she’s not the only magical creature in town. A female vampire has also decided to make Verdaville her murderous playground. What’s worse, she has powers even Diana can’t match.
Fortunately, Diana is not the only one determined to stop her. Llyr Galatyn is the king of the Cachamwri Sidhe – a seductive otherworldly warrior with fantastic abilities. He’s sworn to hunt down the murderer, and he’s more than willing to give Diana any help she needs.
And not just with the case. Diana is in her Burning Moon, a time of sexual heat, when need rides her hard. Llyr is delighted to be the answer to her erotic prayers.
But as they hunt the vampire while desire runs hot between them, a deadly enemy urges the killer to turn her sights on Llyr. It seems Llyr isn’t the only king of the Sidhe – and his brother wants him dead.

Unmasked!! Whoo Hoo!!!

Yes, no need to ask. I am still in deadline hell and will be for the next two weeks. But I have found one hot treasure to get your heart racing this summer!! Just out this June is Unmasked! The beginning of C.J. Barry's action packed story from Dorchester's Lovespell, reminds me of those first exciting moments when Star Wars hit the big screen. Be still my racing heart! My advice is to catch this hot solar wind before its all gone!

To the merchants he plunders, he's the Ghost Rider of the Dead Zone. To sector law enforcement, he's a wanted pirate. To the slaves he rescues, he's the savior, laghato. To one determined female, Qaade Deter is serious trouble. Torrie Masters had heard of the legendary raider, but she'd never expected to encounter him. Nor would she have expected that beneath his black mask lurked an enticing man destined to challenge her in ways she couldn't shoot her way out of. But a great threat has emerged-one that's left no choice but for them to join forces. Entrusted with the fate of thousands, Torrie has discovered Qaade's impossible dream. Only she has the power to help him. Only she has the power to see him UNMASKED.
